The Bristol Massive’s gorgeous best-of proves just how far their pioneering spirit pitched out from Britpop’s retro rumpus. Between the surging dub-soul of “Safe from Harm” and the skin-tingling “Teardrop”, Massive’s dub-hop mood-scapes exquisitely balance tenderness with tension. The richly soulful Terry Callier-sung new song suggests luxurious future paths, and CD two’s cast-offs are no less lush.
